Meet the team – station leaders
Adam Peaty – Olympic Champion, 11 time World Record Holder, multiple World and European Champion, Captain of the London Roar ISL Team… there is no one better to be leading the pool session. Adam is also a level 2 swimming coach.
Edward Baxter – Ed is Youth Commonwealth Champion, Multiple British Champion & Record Holder as well as being English Senior Short Course Champion all over the 200 meter breaststroke. Ed has trained alongside Adam now for around 4 years and as a swimmer that favours short course, he will be running the second pool station. Ed is also a qualified swimming teacher.
Rob Norman – Rob is a very experienced swimming specific Strength and Conditioning Coach who has a massive amount of knowledge around how to best compliment the meters done in the pool with a truly World Class Dry Land Programme.
Kevin Pickard – In his day job Kevin heads up the talent programme in the East Region, supporting around 125 clubs. He’s got a great background in coaching working previously as the assistant head coach at one of Britain’s strongest clubs, developing many athletes who have gone on to compete for England and Great Britain. He will be leading the Parent Education Station.
Tim Shuttleworth – As a 2016 Rio Olympian and a World Championship Medallist from 2017, Tim knows what it is like to perform at the top. He will be leading the swimmers through the racing edge station.
Meet the team – Support staff
Michael Gunning – After representing GB at a Junior level, Michael has recently been flying the flag for Team Jamaica on the Senior International Stage, most notably attending two World Championships. Michael will be on poolside assisting Adam and Ed, motivating the swimmers to be the best they can be.
Edmund Ashton – Edmund is a recently retired swimmer but, in his career, he was a British National Medallist in the 200 meter Breaststroke and was a member of the England Talent Programme for many years. Edmund will be acting as a camp leader.
Harriet West – Harriet is a 3 time Commonwealth Games Semi-finalist from 2018. She is also a multiple British Champion and British Universities Champion. Harriet will be acting as a camp leader.
Zac Goodwin – Zac is the new Adam Peaty Race Clinics photographer. After photographing Adam during the London ISL match, the team couldn’t let his talent slip past them. Zac will be photographing all the clinics, with the photos available for attendees to purchase.
Breaststroke is a highly technical stroke from the pull out to the finish on the wall and perfecting your technique is critical to success in the pool. Adam’s stroke is totally unique, and he believes this is a major key to his success. The pool session consists of two parts: “free swimming” focussing entirely on the stroke, will be led by Adam and turn/finish looking at the rotation speed and spotting walls, which will be led by Ed.
The Gym session will be led by Rob Norman. Gym work is vital to a swimming programme and as the expert in swimming specific gym work Rob can offer unique insights. Rob has been Adam’s gym coach for over three years and has been key to his success over recent years.
Racing Edge Station
The Racing Edge Station will be led by Tim. This station will be focused around how swimmers transition from good to great, working on the finer details that are always forgotten but sometimes the most critical.
Parent Education Station
As a swimming parent it’s hard to find the right balance between wanting to help your swimmer and ending up being that “pushy parent”. While the swimmers are at the Racing Edge Station the parents of those swimmers are welcome to attend this station, where Kev will be helping you get that balance right.
Presentation and Q&A
To round off the day Adam will be delivering a presentation, explaining his biggest learning points and providing an opportunity for participants to pick the brains of the man behind the medals.
Adam Peaty Race Clinics is launching its own merchandise range for the 2020 UK Tour. Items will be available for pre order prior to the clinics, once your order has been placed it will be prepared and ready for collection at the clinic you are attending. There will also be a merchandise stall during all clinics where goods will be available to be purchased. Please note the merchandise is not available for people who are not attending a Race Clinic.
